Experience an online class in Canvas from a student perspective when you take this four-week workshop to guide you through course development for an online course. This course is required for those faculty earning their Basic Online Course Development Certificate. It is also useful for faculty planning or revising hybrid courses. Participants will work on a specific course, selected by them, during the workshop, making course level decisions and working on developing one module, or short segment, of the course. Weekly workshop assignments are due. This workshop does not result in a fully-developed online course but gets you started. The workshop includes reading two books from the Jossey-Bass Guides to Online Teaching, which will be purchased for you. Past participants have estimated the class taking them about 3-7 hours per week.
